New PENN SENATOR 16/0 Star Drag Trolling Reel

a  PENN SENATOR 16/0 star drag, deep sea trolling reel and it is complete with both rod brace assemblies, rod clamp, and retaining nuts. The 16/0 is also known as PENN's 'Model 118' and it was discontinued from production by PENN in 1990 after a long and successful production run that began in 1939. This reel is scarce, massive (the biggest PENN ever made) and famous, i.e. it was the model shown ominously slow-clicking in the movie "Jaws". It was designed to bring in the largest of game fish and according to an ad in my files from the 1950s, carries about 950 yards of 130 class monofilament line and of course a huge amount of modern day Braid. It has a gear ratio of 1.6 to 1. 

In my book, this reel's over-all cosmetic condition is an 8.5 on a scale of 10. There is a minimum of boat rash however the chrome-plated brass spool has sustained some flaking of the plating in the area that is typically exposed to salt and sea above the line level.  The rod stand also has brass showing through it's chrome plating. Operation is excellent, with a very loud clicker and strong, smooth drags. Critical parts are readily available at most any deep sea PENN dealer because they are the same as for the PENN Senator 14/0.
